A fanciful idea to slow down ageing?

When temperature goes down some animals go into temporary hibernation which enable them to survive during the cold winter period. Would you like to be like dormice or hedgehogs and sleep for the whole winter? I wouldn't. However, I would go for sleeping over the time when temperatures soar to more than 35 degrees.

What would the world look like if a mandatory annual six-month hibernation was implemented? Such a radical but hilarious change was put forward by biosemiotician Dr. Donald Favareau in the BBC radio programme The Forum and according to him it could be very beneficial to the whole society as well as on a personal level. Not only would it promote society cohesion and creativity but it would also slow down ageing process. And this isn't all! Curious? Go to the BBC website and listen to the programme!
